One Company Now Owns Every Layer a Country Needs
Business Onion · 2:58
The main law governing outer space was written in 1967, to keep nuclear weapons off the Moon. It is now the rulebook for a company that has asked permission to launch a million computers into orbit. Chip, factory, power plant, rocket, orbit, and the AI itself. That is everything a country needs to make computing power — and no private company has ever held all of it at once. Under Article VIII of that 1967 treaty, the country a satellite is registered in keeps control of the hardware. The treaty says nothing about the data inside it. Every privacy law on Earth assumes the computer is standing on somebody's soil. And no regulator can board a satellite to check. Part 3 of 4.
